New Year, New You

Hi! Remember me? Welcome to 2012. I think every day is a new opportunity to start fresh, but something about saying goodbye to one year and entering another is a much more tangible change.

2011 was a whirlwind full of adventures, and 2012 promises to nothing short of exciting.

In January, I was hired as a marketing intern for an amazing airline. I traveled, spent many days working at the airport, and joined an amazing team of co-workers. And then I did the impossible, and said goodbye in May to start Nursing School. I cannot believe how quickly those months have gone by, but am thankful for this new chapter.

This year, I will graduate nursing school, find a job and move (?!), take the boards, and go to the Bahamas! I have not a clue what lies ahead, but I am going to make sure this year is full of less indecisiveness and anxiety, and more relaxation and adventure.

So happy new year to you and yours, let’s make it a good one.

5 Things I’ll do When I Get the Dolla Dolla Bills.

Currently, I am a destitute student. Okay that’s a little dramatic of a term, but you get my point. Four years of undergraduate studies followed by 6 months of receptionist work, a fabulous internship with an airline, and the start of a whole ‘nother degree leaves me a little tight in the funds department.

But, life is too short to not be satisfied, and just because I am on a budget doesn’t mean I’m not going to live a little. Read: March 2012 cruise, August 2012 Country Fest, and plenty of weekends at the bahhh…luckily I’m a lady and don’t need to buy too many drinks ;-) .

But alas, there are still some things I need to wait to purchase or do. First, let’s aim for a job, shall we? But hey, it can’t hurt to have goals. Here are my top 5 purchases (in no specific order) for when I finally get that big girl job.

Goal number #1…camera and photography classes.

Blogging would be so much fun with this guy.

Goal #2, a trip overseas. I’ll take anything, but Greece is on my list…Mediterranean cuisine and crystal water- OPA!!

Goal #3, a bedroom set. I know, I’m weird..but now that I own a glorious mattress, I think its only justified that I get the headboard, dresser, night stand, and bureau to accompany it, right? I cannot wait to run through IKEA like a champ.

Goal #4, can’t forget the folks. Mom and Dad have given me so much over the years, it’s time to send them on a little trip. Maybe I’ll join- they will DEF need an experienced traveler ;-)

OooOooo, and goal #5. She’s just beautiful….ready?

MY FIRST CAR!! The only time I owned a car was senior year of high school..otherwise, to save funds, I’ve borrowed my parents one and only. I almost leased one before starting nursing school, but it wasn’t practical since I do not need on in Boston. Ending my test drive and handing over the keys when I was this close to buying was not pretty- tears may have been shed. But, it’s only more motivation.

What are your top five future purchases? My brother and fab sister-in-law are looking at houses! Wild.

Oh! Almost forgot, happy hump day :-)

xx

Take me there.

I’m in bed doing homework. I’d rather be…

here.

The next few weeks are going to be a treacherous uphill battle to keep my eyes glued to textbooks and lecture slides, and away from the blogging community, Christmas shopping, and vacation plans.

But, I did just return from an amazing T-gives feast with all of the fam.

And realized just how much I have to be thankful for.

In the spirit of T-gives, today I am thankful for peppermint Hershey kisses, Iron & Wine on Pandora, and Mountain Lodge burning away- the closest thing I have to a man right now.

I can’t get in the Christmas spirit yet- its wayyy too warm outside here in Bahston, and therefore I’ve got Vermont foliage and maple syrup on the brain. OoOoo, and beer.

lots of <3.

Have a laugh.

Hi!

How did you spend your weekend? Me, I avoided studying at all costs, and relaxed with some of my favorites. Let’s talk about it, shall we?

I Saw Breaking Dawn. Don’t judge, but I may have waited in line for 45 minutes even though I purchased tickets a week ahead. Movie was amaze, minus the play by play I received from one of the biggest Twilight fans possible. At least she wasn’t judging.

I watched choreographed YouTube videos for this song over and over again.

I love dance. I love to dance. And, I love to watch other people dance. I think the Boston Ballet Nutcracker is in order.

Speaking of Christmas, I bought..

Excited to try.

Last night tipped it all off….John Mayer and this guy:

And tonight? Coconut chicken chili from Iowa Girl Eats, my favorite girl from Iowa…anddd, laughter. Ze best medicine. Maybe I should skip the pharmacology studying and let my instructors know laughter wins. Or not.

Night friends, xx.

Worth the wait(ing).

I am in constant anticipation for the next best thing. Counting down the months until the big cruise, the weeks until the semester ends, the days until I’m home for Thanksgiving, and the seconds until the weekend. We live our lives in constant foresight towards the next best thing– craving it, dreaming of it, and envisioning what it will feel like when its finally here.

This notion of waiting is something we’ve known since childhood. Nothing captures it best than the anticipation fraught with Christmas morning. But waiting doesn’t end there. It moves beyond childhood as we grow older and wait for our drivers license, to graduate high school and move away, turn 21 and have our first drink, meet that special someone, get married and make babies….you get the gist.

While these things are always worth the wait, at times I think the best part is maybe the waiting itself. The butterfly-filled anticipation of a first kiss, the four years of college spent preparing for the real world partying with the best of friends, the count down for a concert or vacation, or heck, even foreplay. So friends, embrace the waiting and wait patiently because waiting can be amazingly satisfying.
